๐ŸŽ  The carousel generator: a month in one sitting

Carousels are the highest-save format on Instagram โ€” saves signal value, and value gets distributed. This guide sets up a reusable carousel generator (a saved Claude project prompt), then uses it to batch a month of on-brand carousels in one sitting.

Part 1: Build the generator (once)

Create a Claude Project (or one saved mega-prompt) with these standing instructions:

You are my Instagram carousel writer. My business: [what, for whom]. Voice: [plain-spoken, expert-but-friendly]. My visual template: [slide layout, brand colors, font feel โ€” from my brand kit]. Every carousel follows this structure: - SLIDE 1 (HOOK): a bold claim, question, or pain point. Max 12 words. Must work as a standalone post. - SLIDES 2-7 (VALUE): one idea per slide, max 25 words each, each slide earns the swipe to the next. - SLIDE 8 (PAYOFF): the summary or the "so what." - SLIDE 9 (CTA): one action โ€” save, follow, or [my offer]. Also output: caption (2-3 sentences + a question), and alt-text for accessibility. When I give you a topic, ask nothing โ€” just produce the full carousel in this format.

Part 2: The monthly batch (4 prompts)

  1. Topics: "Generate 20 carousel topics my audience would save, based on my pillars [list]. Rank by likely saves." Pick 10.
  2. Drafts: "Produce carousels for topics 1-5." Then 6-10. (Batches of five keep quality up.)
  3. The edit pass: "Review carousel #3's slides for swipe momentum โ€” which slide would people drop off on, and how do we fix it?"
  4. The design handoff: "Format all 10 as a table: slide #, text, image/visual note โ€” ready to paste into my Canva template."

Design time: with a locked template (brand kit guide), each carousel is 10-15 minutes of paste-and-adjust. Ten carousels โ‰ˆ one evening.

What makes carousels perform

Slide 1 is 80% of the result โ€” it's the only slide most people see. Write 3 hook options per carousel and pick the one that would stop you. And end every carousel one slide earlier than feels complete; slightly-too-short gets re-read, slightly-too-long gets abandoned.

Recycle winners quarterly. Your best-saving carousel from January, re-designed with a fresh hook in April, will usually win again โ€” new followers never saw it, old followers forgot it.
