๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Write website copy that converts

Most business websites describe the business. The ones that convert describe the customer's problem, then prove they can fix it. We write sites for a living โ€” here's the page-by-page system, with prompts.

The rule behind everything

Every section answers one visitor question, in this order: What is this? Is it for me? Can I trust them? What do I do next? Write to those four questions and you can't go far wrong.

Homepage: the 5-second test

You are a conversion copywriter. My business: [what, where, for whom]. What visitors want most: [the #1 thing]. Write 5 homepage headline + subheadline pairs. Rules: a stranger must understand what we do in 5 seconds, lead with the customer's outcome not our name, no puns, no "Welcome to." Then recommend which one you'd ship and why.

Service pages: one per service

Don't cram everything on one page โ€” one service, one page, one goal. Structure each the same way:

Write a service page for [service]. Structure: 1. Headline: the outcome the customer gets 2. The problem paragraph: what it's like dealing with this without us (specific, not dramatic) 3. How it works: 3 simple steps from "call us" to "done" 4. Why us: [paste your real differentiators โ€” years, reviews, guarantees] 5. FAQ: the 4 questions people actually ask before buying [paste them] 6. One call to action, repeated after sections 1, 4, and 5 Plain-spoken tone. Grade 7 reading level. No filler sentences.

Calls to action: one job per page

"Learn more" is where clicks go to die. Be specific and low-friction: "Get a free quote," "Call us today," "See our work." One primary CTA per page, repeated โ€” not five different ones competing.

The trust layer

Sprinkle proof near every CTA: review snippets (real ones, with permission), years in business, photos of actual work, guarantees. Ask AI: "Here's my page โ€” where would a skeptical visitor hesitate, and what proof should sit at each of those points?"

Read it like a stranger: paste your finished page back in and ask: "You've never heard of us. What's confusing, what's unconvincing, and where would you stop reading?" The answers are your edit list.
