🚀 Getting started with AI for your business

Most "getting started with AI" advice is written for tech people. This one's for business owners. In 30 minutes you'll have the right tool set up and five real tasks off your plate.

Step 1: Pick one tool (not five)

Tool-hopping is the #1 way people stall out. Pick one general assistant and live in it for a month:

Both have free tiers. Sign up with your business email, and if you handle sensitive client data, check the privacy settings before you paste anything in.

Step 2: Give it context once

AI is only generic when you give it generic input. Start every new chat with a short intro, or save it in the tool's custom instructions:

I run [business name], a [type of business] in [town, state]. My customers are [who]. My tone is [friendly / professional / plain-spoken]. Keep answers practical and concise, and ask me questions when you need more detail before answering.

Step 3: Run these five tasks this week

  1. Rewrite one page of your website. Paste it in, ask for three clearer versions.
  2. Answer a hard customer email. Paste the email (remove private details), ask for a firm-but-kind reply.
  3. Draft next week's social posts. Give it one topic and your intro from Step 2.
  4. Summarize a contract or proposal. Ask for plain-English bullet points and anything unusual.
  5. Plan a promotion. Describe the offer, ask for a one-week rollout plan.
Rule of thumb: if a task takes you 20+ minutes and happens weekly, it's a candidate for an AI workflow.
